Michael Schaus has 10 years of experience in the film and television industry. Mike started the last decade transitioning out of the IT consulting industry to join up on Deepa Mehta’s Bollywood Hollywood as a PA. A year later, he was part of the producing team that went to Sri Lanka to shoot Deepa’s Academy Award nominated, Water.
Mike then moved to Vancouver and worked with Insight Film Studio as part of a 6 person business affairs team that handled all matter of business (bank closings, distribution agreements, broadcaster licenses, post deliveries, tax credits, funding applications) for Insight’s huge volume. (15 features, 4 series, and 75 MOW’s in 2 years)
Mired in a sea of paperwork and applications Mike had a thought: that new media was actually something new, not just another channel to be jammed in to the old form. The epiphany led to a 6-month residency at the Canadian Film Center’s Interactive Entertainment New Media Lab.
Post CFC, Mike worked to evolve the HBO documentary film Prom Night in Mississippi from it’s film-life into an ongoing educational package under the banner, “Moving Beyond Prejudice.”
Mike’s plays keyboards in the electro-rock outfit, CCCR. They continue to develop a niche fan-base.
